It started with teaching

I earned my first wage teaching mathematics to my classmates in secondary school in Sierra Leone. I have been paid to teach almost every year since: SAT preparation, English to French speakers, computer packages to small businesses, graduate students as an adjunct professor at Pace University, and for the past decade, architects and delivery teams inside one of the world’s largest professional services firms, where I was recognised with the FY25 Gold Faculty Award and an Agentic AI Bronze Faculty award.

Everything else I do is an application of that one skill.

The arc

My first venture, LAM-TECH Consulting Enterprises, began in 2001 while I was still in school in Sierra Leone, teaching people to use a computer and solving community desktop-publishing needs. It became TpISENT in 2018 and is now an education technology company.

In New York I earned three degrees in four years while working full time as a field engineer and running that company: an associate degree in 2006, a bachelor’s in 2008 and a master’s in information management in 2010, top of class. I had been a peer tutor before I was a professor, and I taught at Pace University from 2014 to 2020.

From 2005 I ran SaloneTech Business Solutions between New York and Freetown, delivering for the Government of Sierra Leone, Njala University, the University of Sierra Leone, IFES and the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone. In 2018 I co-founded and architected SLOEDP, Sierra Leone’s first open election data platform. The past-performance record has the detail.

I joined Accenture in 2015. I established MarTech and DXP centres of excellence in Mexico (2015), Costa Rica (2016) and India (2017), recruited, trained and certified the architects and engineers, set the delivery standards, then handed ownership to local leadership. Those three centres became the concentration of the 1,500+ practitioner global practice I later led as Global Practice Lead for the digital experience platform portfolio and North America Practice Lead at Accenture Song. Twenty-five years across US federal government, life sciences, consumer technology, education and international development.

Every one of those projects was a teaching moment. The open-source platform skills a programme needed were rarely sitting on the bench when the work was sold, so on each one I built the bench, staffed it, trained and certified it, handed it to local leadership, and then did it again on the next programme. That is how the practice reached 1,500+. I mentored teams through vendor certification until Accenture held more Acquia Drupal certifications than any other partner globally (2017–2019), and for several years I represented the practice on the Acquia Drupal Strategic Committee and on the Contentstack Strategic Partner Group, contributing feedback and direction to both products.

For the last three years agentic AI has been the centre of my practice. I was in the first cohort of approximately 150 Reinvention Deployed Engineers trained at Accenture, and I built agentic tooling, rules, hooks, commands and purpose-built agents, enabling teams to run an AI-led SDLC and AI-led DevSecOps. That tooling was used on programmes valued at over $10M. I still write code. I do not architect systems I could not implement myself.

Since September 2026 I have worked independently through TpISENT, Inc. in New York. How to work with me sets out the shapes, including mentorship and coaching: I mentor and coach architects, engineers, IT managers, executives and founders one to one, which is the same teaching, applied to one person at a time.

The group

I am Chief Executive of TpGroup (SL) Limited, a Sierra Leonean operating group of 50+ people. I set strategy, capital allocation and governance; Joseph Fallah Yondah is Chief Operating Officer. Three operating companies:

• TpISENT (SL), education technology: TpEMIS, a multi-tenant education management platform for universities; TpLEARN; and TpISENT Talent Development, our hands-on engineering and architecture bootcamp.
• TpESTATE (SL), real estate development and eco-friendly residential construction.
• Fambul Tik, heritage and roots tourism. “Fambul Tik” is Krio for “family tree”. In December 2019 we designed and ran “The Sierra Leone–Gullah Connection: The Next Step”, a study tour bringing 58+ Gullah descendants, performers, historians and preservationists from North America to Sierra Leone across multiple sites, with travel, accommodation, programming, cultural protocol and a full documentary production delivered end to end.

Building the management depth that lets the group run without its founder is the explicit five-year objective.

Kent

TpESTATE’s flagship is The Eco-Living Oasis at Kent, Sierra Leone’s first sustainable vacation community, on the southern tip of the Freetown peninsula. It is a five-year project I led from first drawing to opening: we broke ground in November 2021 and open on 14 November 2026. It is built with alternative interlocking building technologies and roughly 80% local and natural materials.

We built it with our own crew: more than 20 full-time masons, carpenters, block makers, electricians, plumbers and labourers, hired locally and trained and coached throughout the project. Before each phase began, the team walked through it in virtual reality, so everyone could see the finished state before the first block was laid. The building is the visible result; the trained crew is the one that lasts.

Designing to what the site and the country can actually supply, rather than to an imported specification, is the same discipline I apply to software estates: constraints first, then the architecture.

What you get when you work with me

I take on the programmes where getting it wrong is expensive, put the right people around them, and teach until the team runs without me. Careful with risk, generous with what I know, and accountable for what I promise.

• Deliberate. I draw the risks out early, weigh them in the open and design for them. You get an architecture that anticipates what goes wrong, not one that discovers it in production.
• Accountable. What I say I will deliver, I deliver: on the date, on the budget, with the evidence trail an enterprise will accept.
• A builder of teams. I recruit, arrange and steady the bench, set the standard, then hand it over. Three delivery centres, a 1,500-strong practice and every programme since were built that way.
• A teacher first. I explain until it is understood, write it down, and leave the knowledge with you.
• Still learning, still coding. Thirty-eight AI courses in one year, an Agentic AI Nanodegree and a public architecture series. I do not architect systems I could not implement myself.
• Competitive on your behalf. I like to win the pursuit and then win the delivery. High stakes bring out my best work.
